Hiker seriously injured after fall on Green Mountain, flown to Seattle

An injured hiker was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment Sunday night after she fell while in the Green Mountain area, Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue said.

First responders were initially notified about the injury at about 7 p.m. Sunday after the hiker called 911, reporting that she had fallen out of a tree, suffered a head injury and was not able to walk, the agency said in a social media post, which noted that the hiker was unable to provide dispatchers with her exact location and did not know what trail she was on.

Kitsap 911 pinged the hiker's cell phone near the Tin Mine Trail, and Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office and Olympic Mountain Rescue responded. The hiker was eventually found by a trail runner about two hours after responders arrived in the area. A deputy found the hiker, reported a location and described the patient's status as critical.

The patient was treated and then flown to Harborview Medical Center.
