Hiker ‘suffering from medical condition’ rescued from Olympic National Park

A search and rescue crew from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island rescued a hiker who was suffering from a medical condition in Olympic National Park on Wednesday.

According to a news release from the Navy, the crew received calls to rescue the hiker just before 6 p.m.

The hiker, a 68-year-old man, was located several miles up the Enchanted Valley Trail. The search and rescue crew lifted off at 6:25 p.m. and found the man and a park ranger at 6:50 p.m.

The hiker was airlifted to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles by 7:20 p.m.

Naval Air Station Whidbey Island search and rescue crews conducted 25 missions in August, including eight MEDEVACs, 14 rescues, and three searches, the news release said.
