There’s a huge shift taking place in the world right now that will invariably affect future generations. And as the world works through these necessary growing pains, one Hollywood mom is feeling very grateful — as she explains in a heartfelt note to her kids, Hilaria Baldwin believes society’s current state of unrest is making the world a “better place” for children.

Hilaria, who is expecting her fifth child with husband Alec Baldwin, is mom to four littles: sons Rafael Thomas, 5, Leonardo Angel Charles, 3, and Romeo Alejandro David, 2, as well as daughter Carmen Gabriela, 6. In the wake of the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police last week, she wants to help parents (herself included) navigate conversations about what happened. To that end, she and Mombrain partner Daphne Oz spoke with Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart for an upcoming podcast on race issues and how to talk about them with kids.

“Dear babies everywhere, so many people working so hard to make this world a better place for you, regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation… to be safe for all,” she wrote in her Instagram Stories on Tuesday evening, then turning her attention to parents. “Such a big part of this healing and solution needs to be raising our children right, without prejudice… with compassion, respect and to cherish one another.”

With photos of her kids serving as a backdrop for her thoughts, Hilaria admitted that she’s filled with emotion at this world juncture. “I’ve woken up a million times to check on them. I feel a mixture of deep sadness for the hate and injustices of this world, extreme awe and inspiration of how much change can be created by this rallying together… and solid intention that this generation will grow up in a more peaceful and safe environment. I give thanks to every person who is making this happen right now,” she shared.

It’s clear the podcast stirred up a lot of feelings for Hilaria, who went on to share a famous quote by George Bernard Shaw about living a life of purpose that will “burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.” And she wrapped up her thoughts by quoting someone much closer to home: “My best friend said to me, once you become a mom to one child, you become a mom to all children. It’s so true.”

Hilaria’s message comes shortly after Alec came under fire for promoting his new podcast interview with polarizing director Woody Allen. The 30 Rock star plugged the controversial conversation on #BlackoutTuesday, a social media campaign designed to focus time and energy on amplifying black voices, a conversation deemed “tone-deaf” by many of Alec’s followers. The actor insists the interview with Allen was pre-scheduled as part of the agreed-upon marketing for Allen’s memoir, Apropos of Nothing.
