Hilary Duff has delighted Lizzie McGuire fans with a rendition of the movie's famous song whilst protesting on the picket line amid the Screen Actors Guild strike.

The How I Met Your Father actress was seen protesting outside Los Angeles' Paramount Studios yesterday (July 17) when she burst out into song to boost morale.

In a video obtained by Deadline, Duff can be hard singing the chorus lines of 'What Dreams Are Made Of', the original song from 2003's The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Surrounded by fellow protesters, Duff sings "Hey Now, Hey Now" whilst the song plays out in the background. As the impromptu rendition continues, she grabs her water bottle and uses it as a fake microphone, much to the amusement of the crowd.

The actress played the titular role on Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire between 2001 and 2004.

She also reprised her character for the 2003 Disney movie, which saw the teenager and her classmates, including best friend Gordo (Adam Lamberg), travel to Rome for a school trip.

In the film, Lizzie gets mistaken for European pop-star Isabella (also played by Duff), who is part of a famous double-act with ex-boyfriend Paolo (Yani Gellman). Lizzie strikes up a romance with Paolo, who convinces her to impersonate Isabella live on stage.

As Lizzie prepares to take to the stage, the real Isabella appears informing her that Paolo has plans to humiliate her on stage. The two take Paolo down and Lizzie performs 'What Dreams Are Made Of' in front of a jubilant crowd at The Roman Colosseum.

Twenty years on, it seems Duff still remembers the words to her character's hit song.

The actress later shared photos of herself and friends protesting in a Instagram post.

"Out there with my girls. We stand with our union! Let's gooooooo," read the caption, alongside pictures of Duff proudly posing with her 'SAG-AFTRA on STRIKE' sign.

Members of The Screen Actors Guild voted for strike action last Thursday (July 13) after failing to reach an agreement with Hollywood studios on disputes over pay and increased safeguarding around AI rights.

SAG performers have since joined the Writers Guild of America (WGA) on the picket line, who have also been on strike since May in a dispute over pay.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie is available to stream on Disney+.
