'Hills' Star Kaitlynn Carter Dishes on Brody Jenner at First Appearance Since Split
Kaitlynn Carter made her first public appearance since her breakup with Brody Jenner and she had some things to say about her ex.
"The Hills" star sat down with co-star Whitney Port at The Grove in Los Angeles on Thursday, freshly back from her European vacation with Miley Cyrus.
It was all part of Port's podcast, "With Whit," and recorded in front of a live audience.
Kaitlynn spoke about the decision she made with Brody to join "The Hills: New Beginnings" cast, revealing they were first approached about it years ago.
"We took so long to decide to do the show or not... Spencer approached us about it probably two years ago, and it was an automatic no," Carter said.
The star, who's no longer sporting her ring, added that it was Port who ultimately swayed her decision to join the series.
"... The reason that I decided [to do] this was because you messaged. You're like, 'I'm doing it so I need you to do it.' So Whitney convinced me to do it," Kaitlynn stated.
She also said that she and Brody thought it would be good for their relationship to spend more time together.
"It was originally, we thought, kind of a crazy idea to be for Brody to be back on TV and for me to be on there in the first place because it's not really my comfort zone," Kaitlynn said.
"But then I also thought it would be fun. The decision really was about for us to spend more time together. He was always on the road DJing, and I was on the road for work. This was a project we would do together."
While Kaitlynn didn't specifically address their split or the kiss with Miley, she did open up about her fears of showing her vulnerable side.
Opening up about social media specifically, she said she's "worried" to share lengthy posts revealing her real life issues because she feels the caption will "get picked apart."
She teased, "Maybe I need to be more vulnerable on there and open up more and maybe I will," adding, "I'm pretty good about not having that stuff bother me, but... it sets off a whole thing like I feel like my opinion is not [valued]."
As The Blast reported, Kaitlynn and Brody announced their split earlier this month after tying the knot in Bali last year.
It was later revealed they never filed paperwork in the U.S. to make their marriage official.
Kaitlynn was spotted last week yachting in Italy with Miley and was photographed kissing the superstar.
Brody has since been spotted hanging out with Jose Canseco's daughter, Josie.
