Hillsborough Rotary Fair opens Tuesday. Get fireworks, rides and more info here

The annual Hillsborough Rotary Club Fair and Business Expo, one of the most popular summer family events in Somerset County, returns this week.

The fair, held at the fairgrounds adjacent to the Hillsborough Promenade off Route 206, runs 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“We are very proud to host this annual Hillsborough family tradition,” said Mayor Sean Lipani, the new president of the Rotary Club. “The fair not only offers our community a fun summer event, but it raises the funds that enable our Rotary Club to help support numerous important community service initiatives.”

The fair has the atmosphere of a classic old-fashioned carnival with a midway, amusement rides, games of chance, food vendors, displays from local businesses and fireworks.

The fireworks, sponsored by Construction Pros and Petrock's Bar and Grille and Petrock's Liquors, will be held at about 10 p.m. Friday. In case of rain, the fireworks will be launched at 10 p.m. Saturday.

The fair will again offer a cashless payment system for all the rides. Wristbands that are used in place of tickets can be purchased at a centrally located kiosk. The wristbands are available for $35 for all-night access to rides or wristbands can be purchased for different dollar amounts for select rides.

Food and game vendors will continue to accept only cash.

The fair’s updated digital map, which was developed by Pinnacle Health and Fitness of Hillsborough, has undergone several improvements, and continuously uploads new and valuable information for attendees. Guests will be able to scan a QR code with their phones that will take them to a landing page where the map and other fair information will be available.

The Rotary Club's Giant 50/50 Raffle is returning this year. The drawing of the winning ticket will be Saturday evening, at the fair. The winner need not be present. Tickets will be available for purchase during the fair for $5.

The Rotary Club of Hillsborough has approximately 40 active members from Hillsborough and surrounding communities. Members include business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. All funds raised by The Rotary Club of Hillsborough are used to support a wide variety of community service organizations and projects.

The Rotary Club of Hillsborough meets every first and third Wednesday of the month, at 6:15 p.m., at The Landing Restaurant.
