Hillsdale and Hillsdale Academy to host track and field Regionals

As the track regular season ends, teams will be battling in “Last Chance” meets before heading into regional competition. Jonesville’s Isaac Shively competed in the Last Chance meet held at Whitmore Lake High School where he took first place in the boys discus and shot-put events. Hillsdale will have athletes compete in the Pewamo Westphalia Last Chance Meet.

After these events have concluded, Hillsdale County track and field teams will head into their MHSAA regional championship meets. Two Hillsdale County teams will host regional meets. Regional meets are held before the conference finals, which will be held on Tuesday, May 24.

Here is a schedule of what teams will be competing in which event and where those events will be held.

Hillsdale MHSAA LP Region 25-3 Championship

The Hornets will be hosting the Region 25-3 meet on Friday, May 20. The Hornets will host the following schools: Brooklyn Columbia Central, Clinton, Grass Lake, Hanover-Horton, Homer, Hudson, Jackson Lumen Christi, Jonesville, Manchester, Michigan Center, Napoleon, Onsted, Quincy and Union City.

Field events start at 2 p.m. with the girls pole vault event. Prelims for running events start at 4 p.m.

Concessions will be served, and athletic trainers will be on site for the meet. This Friday looks to have a high of 86 degrees with a low of 59 degrees. Wind advisories are expected with the chance of a rain shower.

Hillsdale Academy MHSAA LP Region 35-4 Championship

The Hillsdale Academy Colts will host the Regional Championship for several D4 track teams. The Colts will host the following schools: Athens, Camden-Frontier, Climax-Scotts, Colon, Hillsdale Will Carleton Academy, Litchfield, Mendon, Morenci, Pittsford, Reading, Tekonsha, Waldron and White Pigeon.

Field Events start around 1:30 p.m. Preliminary events begin around 3 p.m. with the 3200-meter relay kicking off running events. Finals will look to begin around 5:30 p.m. and will follow the usual MHSAA track and field schedule, starting with 110-meter hurdles.
