Hillsdale Hornets take second overall in LCAA boys golf championship

ADRIAN — The Hillsdale Hornets and head coach Marc Wilson headed to the Woodlawn Golf Club in Adrian, Michigan to compete in the LCAA Championships. The Hornets battled through all 18 holes at the golf club against the very best from the LCAA conference. The Hornets finished with a strong outing from all of their golfers.

The Hudson Tigers would beat the Hornets for second place in the championship by one stroke. The Hornets finished with 360 and the Tigers finished with 359. The Clinton Redwolves took third overall. Blissfield would finish in fourth and Onsted finished in fifth.

The Hornets were led by Jack Granata who won the individual conference championship final scores with a 86. Granata had a birdie on a par-five hole six to help him secure the one stroke lead over Onsted's Hunter Johncox. Hillsdale junior Grant Alley took seventh individually with a final score of 89. Alley also had a birdie on hole six and also birdied hole 16 on a par-four. Sophomore Joseph Miller shot a 92 final score and had a birdie on hole six. Brody Young shot a 93 overall and had a birdie on a par-three hole 18.

The Hornets took second overall in the final league standings. Joseph Miller earned second team All-League standings and Jack Granata earned first team All-League standings.

The Hornets prepare for the MHSAA regional championships that will be held on Tuesday, May 31 at the Beeches Golf Club.
