"Under the current circumstances, the international community should push for a ceasefire as soon as possible to provide a ‘green lane’ for Russia's and Ukraine's grain exports," the Chinese diplomat said, according to the official Chinese ministry’s website.

He added that he was ready to have talks with all parties to resolve the issue.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis earlier proposed organizing an international naval operation to export Ukrainian grain from the Odesa port, which has been blockaded by the Russian Federation.

UK newspaper the Times reported, citing its sources, that the United Kingdom was considering sending its warships to the Black Sea to escort cargo, but this was later denied by the British government.
