Hinsdale police blotter: Resident reports unknown suspect used identity to obtain $81,000 auto loan

The following items were taken from area police department reports and releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Hinsdale

Identity theft

An unknown suspect opened a bank account using the information from a victim at the 200 block of 59th Street, reported on May 1.

An unknown suspect used a victim’s identity to obtain an auto loan of $81,000 sometime between April 1 and May 1, the victim reported on May 8.

An unknown suspect used a victim’s identity to open a fraudulent bank account, May 8.

Fraud

An unknown suspect accessed a Hinsdale village employee’s email and changed their direct deposit information. The fraud was reported on May 2.

Criminal trespass to vehicle

Gretchen R. Billups, 58, was charged with a misdemeanor criminal trespass to vehicle, at 7:53 p.m. May 2. Billups was stopped for a registration inquiry at the 500 block of Ogden Avenue after police were alerted that the vehicle, a rental car, had been reported stolen by the Glen Ellyn police department.

DUI

Allen J. Olson, 44, of the 3000 block of Clinton Avenue, Berwyn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, at 2:01 a.m. May 7.

Theft

A victim, at the 600 block of Oak Street, reported a robotic lawn mower valued at $2,100 was stolen from their lawn sometime between May 7-8.

Felony possession of stolen vehicle

Metrevell E. Hutchinson, 21, and Cobie A. Vaughn, 20, were charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle at 1:24 a.m. May 5. Hutchinson was additionally charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding police officers.

Theft

A victim reported her purse stolen while visiting a patient at the Hinsdale Hospital at 120 N Oak Street, between 5-5:10 p.m. May 8. The victim reported a charge to her stolen debit card.
