Hinsdale police blotter: Wedding ring, headphones reported stolen from Hinsdale Hospital

The following items were taken from area police department reports and releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Hinsdale

Possession of controlled substance

A known suspect was stopped for speeding at the 300 block of West Ogden Avenue at 11:20 p.m. June 26, and found in possession of plastic baggies containing a suspected controlled substance.

Telephone scam

An unknown suspect called a victim at the 1400 block of Burr Oak Road, claiming they won a sweepstakes, and requested a check to cover processing fees. The victim mailed the check, but canceled before it could be processed; the victim reported the scam on June 28.

Computer fraud

An unknown suspect gained remote access to the victim’s computer at the 200 block of Racquet Club Court, the victim was instructed to purchase $950 in gift cards; the scam was reported on June 30.

Criminal damage to government supported property

An unknown suspect placed a suspected firework in a garbage can inside a restroom at Veeck Park, on 701 E. Chicago Avenue, at 9:40 p.m. June 30.

Theft

A victim reported his $200 headphones had been stolen from his bag at Hinsdale Hospital, on 120 N. Oak Street, sometime between June 30-July 3.

Arrest warrant service

Dominique L. Terrell, 31, of the 300 block of Bluff Avenue, La Grange, surrendered herself on an arrest warrant from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:40 p.m. June 30.

Criminal damage to government supported property

A garbage can in Burns Field, at 320 N. Vine Street, was found damaged by fireworks, sometime between 11:30 p.m.-12 a.m. July 3.

DUI

Sandra A. Garcia, 49, of the 2800 block of Ridgeland Avenue, Berwyn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, expired registration and not having a valid driver’s license, at 9:30 p.m. June 28.

Theft by deception

An unknown suspect posed as tech support and instructed a victim to purchase gift cards to fix technical issues. After purchasing gift cards and providing the suspect with the card information the victim recognized the scam and reported it at 2 p.m. June 30.

Theft

A victim reported her wedding ring missing after being transported to Hinsdale Hospital, on 120 N. Oak Street, reporting the incident on July 2.
