Hip-hop Unity Day coming to Columbia. NicDanger to announce more information

A Hip-hop Unity Day is coming to Columbia thanks to music artist Nicholas “NicDanger” Rodriguez and his team, along with Adrienne Luther-Johnson, Sam Johnson and Team CoMo leadership of Tanya Heath and Glenn Cobbins Sr.

Rodriguez will provide more information 10:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at Cafe Berlin at 220 N. 10th St. The Hip Hop Unity Day event will take place 3-11 p.m. Sept. 17 at Cafe Berlin.

“Hip-hop started as a tool to unite the community,” Rodriguez said in the release. “Hip-hop has brought so many walks of life together. I want to celebrate and unite the youth of our community to grow and share artistic inspiration. Their dreams can come true.”

The event will celebrate hip-hop’s impact on the world and the Midwest community, the news release noted. Additional artists include drum circle, live DJ’s, live emcees, dancers and break dancers, graffiti art and emcees.

Columbia youth are encouraged to attend. A proclamation from Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe is expected.

“Youth are constantly told that there’s so many negative predictions about their future,” Heath said. “That is an overwhelming message for them. Instead, they need to have a space for expression and creativity which will lead to solutions and hope for their future.”
