CHILLICOTHE— The Majestic Theatre Board of Directors announced the completion of the HVAC project that was funded through the Ohio Capital Bill Grant and Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC).

The 170-year-old theatre, for the first time in its history, has an air conditioning system that can effectively and efficiently cool the theatre during the summer. This project was supported by many generous local businesses and community members who helped the Board of Directors raise the matching funds needed to receive the grant.

The refrigerant-based system utilizes two subsystems: a split system with twelve split units in the auditorium and four units in the stage area, and a central air handler. The split system can be controlled independently to allow for more localized temperature control as the air handler provides generalized heating/cooling and fresh air along with humidity control. This will allow the Board of Directors to extend programming throughout the entire year. Additionally, this system will provide improved heating for the facility during the colder months.

The Majestic Theatre is celebrating the completion of the project by holding its first air-conditioned production on July 22 with a performance by McGuffey Lane. Ticket sales are open for this show and can be obtained through the Majestic Theatre’s website, by phone at (740) 772-2041, or in person at the Visitors Bureau.
