- A historic Philadelphia jazz organization is getting a boost. The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts was awarded a $600,000 state grant. The Clef Club was founded in 1935 and has hosted the likes of Nina Simone and Dizzy Gillespie, just to name a couple. The club is kicking off a capital campaign to renovate its South Broad Street building.
