Rye High School, a Pueblo County School District 70 school, was recognized by Colorado Gov. Jared Polis as one of 16 Colorado schools receiving Governor's Bright Spot Award funds on Nov. 2.

Recognized as being among the top schools in science achievement, Rye High School will receive $50,000 from the Federal Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) fund. Funds may be spent on various qualifying expenses including educational technology, after-school programming, professional development and more.

Polis referred to the schools that won Governor's Bright Spot Award funds as being among the "top sixteen schools in the state for science achievement" and said the funds will benefit students as well as the state of Colorado.

"Many of Colorado’s booming job sectors like aerospace are based on science so I am thrilled to provide these science-education related grants to schools so our teachers have the tools in the classroom and students can learn and get into good-paying jobs,” Polis said.
