Hobby Lobby might be coming to Ankeny

Ankeny might be getting a Hobby Lobby.

The Plan & Zoning commission was expected to vote Tuesday on a site plan for a new store at 5075 Southeast Delaware Ave. next to the Sam's Club.

Further information about when the Hobby Lobby could open was not immediately available and a spokesperson for the arts and crafts chain did not immediately respond to an email for comment.

The proposed new Hobby Lobby store would be about 55,000 square feet and have access from the Sam's Club private drive. There would be a traffic signal and a right-turn lane added to the intersection of Delaware Avenue and the private drive to accommodate traffic, according to city documents.

There are existing Hobby Lobby stores in Des Moines, West Des Moines and Ames.
