Hobby Lobby store in Belden Village Commons plaza plans mid-July opening

JACKSON TWP. – The new Hobby Lobby store coming to the Belden Village Commons shopping plaza is prepping for a mid-July opening.

The store — which is taking over the space once occupied by Burlington — will be the anchor tenant at the plaza, 4790 Everhard Road NW. The company has 39 stores statewide.

"Once you visit Hobby Lobby, you will see that we are very unique, offering the widest variety of merchandise in the craft and home décor market under one roof," Kelly Black, assistant vice president of advertising, said in a news release. "We’re tremendously excited about becoming a part of the Canton community."

According to the company's website, each store offers more than 70,000 crafting and home décor products, including floral, fabric, needle art, custom framing, baskets, home accents, wearable art, arts and crafts, jewelry making, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies.

Employees sought for new Hobby Lobby

Hobby Lobby's corporate office also announced the store is seeking a few-dozen employees. Available positions are full and part time.

Altogether, between 35 and 50 workers are being sought at the new Hobby Lobby, the new release states. Positions are to start at $18.50 per hour for full-time work, and $13 an hour for part-time associates.

Hobby Lobby has more than 900 stores across the U.S. and is based in Oklahoma City. The first store started as a picture frame company, opening in 1970.

Ollie's store set to open at Belden Village Commons

Meanwhile, an Ollie's Bargain Outlet is preparing to open at the space directly next door to Hobby Lobby, which was previously occupied by TJ Maxx.

The new Ollie's, 4800 Everhard Road NW, has a grand opening set for 9 a.m. May 12, according to a sign posted in front of the business.

The former Ollie's shop on North Main Street in North Canton has closed.
