Hoboken And Other Towns Get Funds To Help Businesses Pay Rent

HOBOKEN, NJ — Gov. Phil Murphy announced Thursday that 64 towns, including Hoboken, will get federal funds to help local businesses pay their rent.

The towns will divide up a total of $6 million from the new Small Business Lease Emergency Assistance Program, funded by the federal CARES act.

In Hudson County, several towns qualified for the funds: Bayonne, Hoboken, Jersey City, North Bergen, Weehawken, and West New York.

Each small business or local redevelopment authority can get up to $10,000 to help with rent.

"We're fighting every day to protect public health but we're fighting just as hard to protect our economic health," Murphy said.
