ROCKFORD — The Rockford area is hosting a variety of events this weekend including a playoff hockey game at the BMO Harris Bank Center, a celebration for Cinco de Mayo, and a neighborhood garage sale that makes its annual return.
IceHogs - Central Division First Round Calder Cup Playoffs
What: Game two of the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs between the Rockford IceHogs and Texas Stars.
When: 7 p.m. Friday, if necessary, game three 6 p.m. Saturday

Churchill's Grove, Edgewater garage sales
What: These annual neighborhood garage sales draw big crowds. Spend the day looking for treasures.
When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Edgewater, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Churchill's Grove

Cinco de Mayo Celebration
What: An all-ages celebration of Cinco de Mayo, a celebration that commemorates the May 5, 1862, victory of the Mexican Army over the French forces. The celebration will be held in the parking lot next to Don Carter Lanes.
When: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday
Where: 3923 E State St., Rockford
About: The celebration will include food vendors such as Sabores Mobile Kitchen, Tacos Don Chato, WehPah Food Truck, and Second Act Sweets. There will also be art-inspired activities, live music, and a jalapeño eating contest at 4:30 p.m.
