Hockey Day Minnesota coming to White Bear Lake on Jan. 28

Hockey Day Minnesota is coming to White Bear Lake in 2023.

The 17th annual hockey festival will be held on Jan. 28 with a full day of games at Polar Lakes Park in White Bear Township.

The day will feature three outdoor high school games — one girls game and two boys games, all involving East Metro teams — plus a Wild game vs. the Buffalo Sabres at Xcel Energy Center.

The schedule at Polar Lakes Park will be Stillwater girls vs. White Bear Lake, 9:30 a.m.; Mahtomedi boys vs. Hermantown, 1 p.m.; and Hill-Murray boys vs. White Bear Lake, 4:30 p.m.

“We are very excited to celebrate Hockey Day Minnesota 2023 at Polar Lakes Park in White Bear Township,” Wild President Matt Majka said in a statement. “Fans will have a great time celebrating this wonderful event in a tremendous hockey community.”

Bally Sports North will broadcast more than 16 hours of coverage of the event, beginning at 9 a.m. and culminating with the Wild game that night.

Hockey Day Minnesota was originated in 2007 by the Wild to celebrate the game that has made Minnesota the “State of Hockey.” It has made four previous appearances in the East Metro: at Phalen Park in 2009, St. Paul in 2015, Stillwater in 2017 and Roseville in 2021.
