Hog Days Stampede course is ready but runners are needed

The Kewanee Hog Day Stampede and Hog Jog courses are officially opened and marked. Hog Day Stampede Founder Nelson Lay and always capable assistant Jay Cone’ joined this year by Edward Jones representative Pat Kolata marked the course for the 46th time last week.

The 1 mile Hog Jog starts in the 100 block of South Chestnut with the 4 mile course commencing in the 200 block. The course turns West on to Prospect Street and continues Westward with the 1 mile participants turning North on Park Street to 1st. and turning East for the finish line located at the YMCA. 4 mile Stampede runner/walkers will follow the white arrows onto Burlington Avenue and turn East at Page Street, participants head North on Beach Street South making a short appearance on Division before heading up Beach Street to Prospect. The end is near as people turn North onto Grove with the big turn for the finish line straight away on First Street. The Finish Line is located in front of the Kewanee YMCA.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to enter either the 1 or 4 mile event. Entry forms are available at Breedlove's Sporting Goods locations, and the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce office. Online registration can also be completed through www.getmeregistered.com/hogdaystampede. Forms can also be downloaded at www.kewanee-il.com and click on the Hog Day Stampede tab

The 2022 Hog Day Stampede is sponsored by the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce and presented by Breedlove’s Sporting Goods, Galva-Kewanee-Stark County Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists, Community State Bank and OSF Healthcare St. Luke Medical Center.

The 4 mile event starts at 8:00 a.m. sharp Saturday September 3rd with the 1 mile slated for 9:45 a.m. The 1/4 mile kids fun run begins at 9:30 with free T-shirts to the first 300 children 7 and under provided by State Bank of Toulon - Kewanee Banking Center.

Please note: Due to product availability and transportation delays we will not be able to offer shirts to registrants after Wednesday, August 31st.
