Holby City has lined up a devastating story for Holby newcomer Skylar Bryce after a mistake by Cameron Dunn has tragic consequences, with the impact on Skylar set to be huge.

F1 Skylar (Phoebe Pryce) has been finding it difficult to adjust to the pressures of life in the AAU but tonight's episode (January 12) saw her determined to prove herself after Cameron (Nic Jackman) was placed in charge of the F1s.

Skylar volunteered to take on the case of a difficult patient named Harvey, who was uncooperative and presenting unusual symptoms, but Skylar's persistence despite being consistently put down by Cameron meant that she managed to get to the bottom of what was happening to Harvey.

Skylar turned to Cameron for guidance about how best to treat Harvey's unusual illness and an irritable Cameron gave her an off-hand instruction on which antibiotics to administer, announcing that he would write up the notes later.

But the incident had dire consequences as Harvey suffered a severe allergic reaction to one of the drugs, with the team unable to revive him much to Skylar's horror.

Devastated Skylar told Max McGerry (Jo Martin) and Henrik Hanssen (Guy Henry) that she had been following Cameron's instructions, but Cameron immediately tried to cover his tracks and denied ever speaking to Skylar about the antibiotics, having told Skylar: "We need to be honest about what happened... I never told you to give him the antibiotics."

A furious Max announced that there will be a lengthy investigation into Harvey's death, which will result in at least one of Skylar or Cameron permanently losing their job at the hospital.

When the day of the hearing arrives in next week's episode, Skylar and Cameron will both give their account of what happened, but who will the panel listen to?

No matter what the official outcome is for Skylar, Harvey's death will have a huge impact on her as she battles with her guilt and tries to work out what her future holds in devastating scenes.

Will Skylar be able to cope after the tragic incident?

Holby City continues next Tuesday (January 19) at 7.50pm on BBC One.
