Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City saw another twist in Cameron Dunn's (Nic Jackman) story tonight (June 2) as Donna Jackson (Jaye Jacobs) made a choice about that potentially incriminating voicemail on her phone.

The day of Zav Duval's funeral had arrived and poor Donna was struggling with her emotions, particularly as she was banned from her on-off partner's funeral, meaning that she didn't get a proper chance to say goodbye.

Donna told Jason Haynes (Jules Robertson) and a sheepish Cameron – who knows that Zav was about to uncover some incriminating information about him before he died – that she feels like she doesn't know how to grieve properly as she had been unsure of her feelings for Zav.

And she dropped the information that Zav left her a voicemail right before he died that she hasn't listened to yet, rattling Cameron.

Later on, following Cameron's repeated attempts to convince her to delete it, Donna chose to erase the voicemail that Zav left for her in his final moments alive without listening to it, to Cameron's visible relief.

Fans, however, were furious that Donna wouldn't get to hear Zav's final words:

But there was yet another twist to come, as Donna later changed her mind while alone, restored the deleted message and listened to it.

Although Zav didn't give any details about Cameron in the message, he did utter the mysterious words "when everything comes out" – meaning that Donna could start to question what he meant. What will this mean for Cameron?

Tonight's episode also gave us another development in the devious plans that Guy Self (John Michie) and Max McGerry (Jo Martin) – who we recently discovered are a couple – have for the hospital.

Max made herself even more unpopular with her team as she confirmed that Kestrel had been chosen for a big new unit contract over Darwin – and it soon became very clear that Guy had played a significant role in the decision.

But there was a hint that the pair might end up being caught out sooner rather than later, as a suspicious Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie) spotted the couple kissing outside at the end of the day. What will he do with this significant information?

Meanwhile, inside the hospital Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel) and Kian Madani (Ramin Karimloo) were both devastated by the Kestrel announcement, leading their relationship to take a very unexpected turn as they shared a passionate kiss.

Fans were delighted to see the pair finally give into their feelings:

Holby City continues next Tuesday (June 9) at 8pm on BBC One.
