Winners of the annual “2022 Light Up Jackson” holiday decorating contest were announced on Monday at Jackson City Hall. The tournament was announced in November 2022 and centered around both businesses and residents getting creative with their Christmas decorations for a chance to win one of the categories.

Residential categories included "Best In Snow," "Magical Winter Wonderland," and "Santa’s Workshop," while business categories included "Take and Elfie" and "Light Up the City."

Jackson Mayor Scott Conger presented the individualized ornament awards to those in attendance at the ceremony for their contribution to the contest.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in our inaugural event and I look forward to seeing how you all top this past year next year,” Conger said.

Santa’s Workshop

Grant and Sarah Robbins, both of whom are children’s pastors at Lighthouse Church, were awarded the “Santa’s Workshop” honor for having the best holiday-themed inflatables.

Best In Snow

Andrew, Jennifer, Elliana, and Sonora Miller were awarded the “Best in Snow’ recognition in the residential category as well as the “People’s Choice” honor.

“We’ve been doing this for 10 years,” Andrew Miller said. “We’re from Michigan so we’re used to a white Christmas and this year we got that.”

With plans to participate in the contest again this year, the family goal is to always to try to top what they did the year prior.

After purchasing their building downtown three years ago and collecting decorations ever since, their love for Christmas and desire for others to enjoy it as well prompted the placement of the life-size Santa Clause in their building. This encouraged passers-by of the establishment to come inside and take a picture with it, hence their awarding of the “Take an Elfie” category.
