Ward 5 City Councilor Jeffrey Thompson has an ambitious vision for the former Christo's property on Crescent Street. Seen by him as "the gateway to the East Side of Brockton," Thompson hopes the property can be transformed. "I would like to see the property used for medical or academic purposes to assist Massasoit (Community College). I would like to see more synergy between the medical and academic communities," Thompson said.

Man injured in Stoughton shooting outside Central Street apartment complex
A man was injured when he was shot in Stoughton on Sunday night, police said. Officers responded to The Stō Apartments, at 1793 Central St., about 8:42 p.m. for a report of a shooting. "One man was taken to the hospital by Stoughton Fire with non-life threatening injuries," police Lt. John Bonney said in a written statement. At the scene, police appeared to be focused on a white Mercedes-Benz sedan, which had yellow caution tape around it.

Brockton Holiday Celebration returns with truncated but energetic parade
After a year with no in-person, public holiday celebration in Brockton, over 100 people came out to Main Street on Saturday to celebrate the holiday season and see the return of the parade. The parade itself was truncated, and the festivities and vendors were limited in comparison to previous years, but viewers said they appreciated that organizers put something together at all and that it was nice to see the community get together.

Tractor-trailer driver injured in Route 24 rollover crash that temporarily closed highway
A tractor-trailer crashed on Route 24 between Avon and Brockton on Saturday morning, causing both lanes to be temporarily shut down. About 7 a.m., the tractor-trailer was traveling in the southbound lane when it rolled over. The front half of the truck stayed in the southbound lane blocking traffic, while the back half went over the median, blocking the northbound lane. The driver of the vehicle was able to get out of the truck before police arrived and was taken to a hospital by Avon police with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Gourmet Kitchen, with its mixture of Island and Asian flavors, is bringing brand new flavor options to Randolph, from pineapple honey wings to deep fried jerk wontons and slow-cooked pulled oxtail sandwiches. Phouthanome Phoubaykham, 35, the part-owner of the new restaurant, wanted to bring some new dining options to town with signature dishes that represent the diverse population of Randolph, she said.
