Holiday shipping deadlines to make sure your gifts make it on time

As Black Friday began the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 25, getting those all-important gifts to loved ones across the country can be a logistical challenge.

Fortunately, the three largest package carriers in the U.S.; US Postal Service, UPS and FEDEX, have just released their deadlines for holiday shipping this year. The list is intended to make sure people get their gifts on time.

Here are all three package carriers’ holiday shipping deadlines to make sure those gifts make it to where they have to go, on time.

USPS

For the lower 48 states:

  • Retail ground: Dec. 17

  • First-class mail: Dec. 17

  • Priority mail: Dec. 19

  • Priority mail express: Dec. 23

For Alaska

  • Retail ground: Dec. 2

  • First-class: Dec. 17

  • Priority mail: Dec. 17

  • Priority mail express: Dec. 21

For Hawaii

  • First-class: Dec. 17

  • Priority mail: Dec. 17

  • Priority mail express: Dec. 21

UPS

  • Ground: Check ups.com/ctc

  • Three-day select: Dec. 20

  • Second-day air: Dec. 21

  • Next-day air: Dec. 22

FedEx

  • Ground economy: Dec. 8
