Holiday Sunshine Fund launches fundraising campaign to aid Greenville area nonprofits

If you are looking for a way to brighten up the day of someone in need this holiday season, consider donating to this year's Holiday Sunshine Fund.

The fund, sponsored by the Greenville News, WYFF and YMCA of Greenville, is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for local organizations and agencies that focus on enhancing the quality of life of those in need throughout the Upstate. Families will be assisted with food, clothing and financial assistance.

The volunteer-based campaign does not have administrative costs, ensuring every donated dollar goes directly to agencies serving local children, families and the elderly.

During the 2022 fundraising campaign, $83,000 was raised for local nonprofits.

The Holiday Sunshine Fund was created by the Greenville News in 1978. In 2006, WYFF News 4 became a partner of the fund. Over $2 million has been raised for nonprofit organizations in the Greenville community since the fund's inception.

The Center for Developmental Services, Compass of Carolina, Downtown Outreach, St. Anthony of Padua, Triune Mercy Center and United Ministries are recipients of the funds. The YMCA of Greenville is also a recipient for its food bank foundation.

The campaign runs from Thanksgiving Day until Dec. 31. To make a donation, visit holidaysunshinefund.org or mail it to Holiday Sunshine Fund, 723 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
