Visits with Santa

Visits with Santa Claus at La Palmera

What: Visits with Santa, presented by Apollo Towing, will be available by reservation on the Snap Pass system or walk-up during mall hours. Guests may choose to either sit with Santa, or use a socially distanced bench for photos.

When: Nov. 9 through Dec. 24; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday–Saturday (Santa takes breaks from 1:30-2 p.m. and from 4:30-5 p.m.) and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24

Ice skating at Christmas on the Coast in Portland

What: Enjoy a real ice-skating rink this holiday season in Portland under Joe Burke Pavilion. Take advantage of the beautiful, picturesque decorations and ice skating rink for your family Christmas photos.

When: 5-9 p.m. daily through Sunday, Jan. 2 (closed Tuesday, Dec. 14 and Wednesday, Dec. 15 for maintenance)

Christmas on the Beach Drive-Thru light display at Rockport Beach

What: Enjoy some holiday cheer car by visiting this drive thru light display on Rockport Beach for the second annual Christmas on the Beach. More than 15 local nonprofit organizations have been working hard to create displays for drive-by guests to enjoy. Stop at the Welcome Station at the Outdoor Pavilion as you turn left on your way to the circle. Several volunteer greeters will welcome you and give your directions for the tour. Narration for the trip provided by the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals.

When: Dec. 5-31; 6-9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays (closed Saturday, Dec. 5)

Aurora Arts Theatre presents ‘Winter Wonderettes’

What: The Wonderettes are back! This seasonal celebration finds the girls entertaining at the annual Harper’s Hardware Holiday Party. When Santa turns up missing, the girls use their talent and creative ingenuity to save the holiday party. Featuring great ’60s versions of holiday classics such as “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Run, Rudolph, Run,” and “Winter Wonderland,” the result is, of course, marvelous.

When: Nov. 26 through Jan. 2; 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays (no shows Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25)

Coastal Christmas and Ice Skating at American Bank Center

What: Coastal Christmas is back for its 3rd annual celebration. Come out and enjoy this favorite holiday tradition in American Bank Center arena Sunday, Dec. 19 through Friday, Dec. 24. There will be ice skating – including a sensory-friendly session from 10-10:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 -- Santa photo opportunities, s’mores by the fire pits and DJ nights. Ice skating sessions are 45 minutes and advance ticket purchases are encouraged as they sell out quickly.

When: 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 through Thursday, Dec. 23; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24

Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation SPARK Camp

What: The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is offering a SPARK Camp for youth ages 6-16 during the Corpus Christi Independent School District’s December holiday break. Children will enjoy a fun-filled school break playing sports, games, and outdoor activities and getting creative with arts and crafts, science projects, learning from presentations by guest speakers, and so much more! This open campus program with general supervision provides a positive and engaging environment. A free snack will be provided daily.

When: Monday, Dec. 20 through Thursday, Dec. 23; morning session 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and afternoon session 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Christmas Break Basketball Camp

What: Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Dept. offers this Christmas Break basketball camp for ages 8 to 17 years old. Players will obtain the fundamentals of the game through a variety of skills and drills, along with opportunities for basketball challenges against fellow campers. Professional instruction will be provided by local high school basketball Coach Roy DeLaPena. Two sessions available and students may sign up for both sessions.

When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20 through Wednesday, Dec. 22

Winter S.T.E.A.M. Camp at Museum of Science and History

What: Tis’ the season of science! Gather up garlands of fun this winter as we celebrate Yuletide. Stuff your stockings full of: traditions from around the world, hands-on experiments, and ice activities that are extra cool. Don’t stay Home Alone this winter break, join the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History for holiday festivities instead. For ages 5 through 13, lunch and snack provided.

What: House of Rock continues its holiday tradition with the 17th annual Christmas Eve Tamale Dinner. Enjoy a hot plate of tamales with rice and beans, then take a guess at how many cans make up the Lone Star tree to win free concert tickets for one year. This event is family friendly. Polar Bear Plunge on North Beach

What: Take the plunge into Corpus Christi Bay and help freeze out ALS while celebrating the new year. Fajitaville opens at 11 a.m. if you need to warm up before the plunge, or join the warm-up fun run on the Beachwalk with the Corpus Christi Roadrunners​ at 11:15 a.m. Warming up first is the easiest way to jump into cold water. The run will get you back a few minutes before the plunge.

Corpus Christi Cathedral Live Nativity

What: The Corpus Christi Cathedral’s Religious Education Program presents a live nativity in the cathedral courtyard. All are invited to gather around the nativity for a priestly blessing followed by hot chocolate and cookies.

When: after Vigil Mass (Mass starts at 5 p.m.) Saturday, Jan. 1
