Holland Hospital expands operational role with Holland Community Health Center
HOLLAND — Holland Hospital announced it is expanding on a long-standing commitment to provide care to under-served residents along the lakeshore.
At the beginning of April, the hospital assumed full operational responsibility for the Holland Community Health Center. Holland Hospital has partnered with other organizations to support the center since it opened, but will now fully oversee the operation.
“We are honored to support these important medical care services to those who are most in need,” stated Michelle Doctor, vice president of Holland Hospital Medical Group. “This center is part of our ongoing commitment and partnership with physicians to expand access to care and improve the health of our community.”
The Holland Community Health Center, located at 336 S. River Ave., offers essential care services for uninsured and under-insured patients of all ages at little to no cost. Services available include routine primary care, behavioral health, preventative care, obstetrics, wellness visits, children’s health needs, vaccinations and more.
The health center has a full staff that can accommodate various needs, including physicians who are Spanish-speaking.
The Holland Community Health Center was started in 1995 by a small group of emergency department staff from Holland Hospital. Michigan Medical PC partnered with Holland Hospital in 2004 to operate the center and provide a broader range of services.
Spectrum Health purchased MMPC in 2009 and maintained the operations of Holland Community Health Center until earlier this month.
