Holland Language Academy, Zeeland's Venture Academy added to outbreak list

A pair of local schools were among those added to the state’s School-Related Cluster and Outbreak Report this week.

The Tuesday, Nov. 30, edition of the report included 93 total clusters and outbreaks, including four in Ottawa County and none in Allegan County. Holland Language Academy and Zeeland’s Venture Academy were both added with three student cases in a “specified core group.”

Jenison’s Early Childhood Center and Grand Haven’s Peach Plains Elementary were both added to the report as well, each with three grouped cases.

In a COVID-19 update posted Friday, Nov. 26, Holland Public Schools reported three new student cases at HLA.

Venture Academy, a non-traditional high school program, is not listed on Zeeland Public School’s dashboard. However, the program is housed at Zeeland West High School, which had four active cases as of Tuesday.

A dashboard update from ZPS Tuesday showed multiple cases at each of its buildings, including eight at Creekside Middle and seven at Cityside Middle. There have been 382 total cases in the district this year.

The cluster and outbreak report was updated a day late this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday last Thursday. It will return to a Monday schedule next week.
