HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Holland say they arrested a man who broke into a home and tried to assault the woman inside early Tuesday.

Dominique Asher Hawkins was arraigned later Tuesday on charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree home invasion and resisting and obstructing an officer.

Police say a woman called 911 around 2:20 a.m., reporting she heard someone in her home on W. 24th Street near Michigan Avenue.

When officers got there, one shined a light into the house and saw a man. He tried to run away, but there was another officer on the side of the house where he came out. There was a short foot chase and the officers caught him.

Police say the victim told them that the man tried to sexually assault her. She said she didn’t know him.

Hawkins’ bond was set at $250,000 at arraignment.
