Holly Willoughby is increasingly popular after quitting This Morning

Holly Willoughby’s popularity on social media is soaring after she left This Morning – but the ITV show’s following has dropped.

The TV star, 42, announced earlier this week that she was stepping down from the ITV show after 14 years, after a man was charged in relation to an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.

The announcement has not done anything to dent Willoughby’s fanbase, with data from NoDepsit.Guide showing that more people are searching for the TV star online.

Online searches about her have risen by 651% in the last week alone.

And in the last month a whopping 38,970 people have clicked the ‘Follow’ button on her Instagram account.

Meanwhile, the same can not be said for This Morning.

The show has had a tough year after also losing Phillip Schofield, who stepped down amid a scandal that saw him admitting to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger ITV staff member.

And after Willoughby’s exit, the programme's Instagram has lost 213 followers.

It currently has 2.6 million, while Willoughby has 8.5 million.

Willoughby posted a message on Instagram on 10 October telling fans that she was saying goodbye to This Morning.

She said it was “such a difficult goodbye” but that it was a decision she made "for me and my family".
