Midsomer Murders fans have been given a sneak peek at Holly Willoughby's upcoming cameo as the "queen of daytime".

A clip from the This Morning presenter's Midsomer debut was shown on Good Morning Britain earlier today when hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley were joined by Neil Dudgeon, who stars in the ITV drama as DCI John Barnaby.

In the clip, Holly's character is being interviewed from a throne-like seat before John Barnaby arrives with his colleague DS Jamie Winter (Nick Hendrix).

"Is that the queen of daytime?", Jamie asks, to which John replies: "Gloria Hunniford? Are you sure?"

After the footage was played, Richard exclaimed: "That's Holly!" while Kate added: "What's she doing cropping up in Midsomer?"

"Well, she's sort of a friend of the show I suppose – she's a great fan of the show and we're always looking to broaden our casting net," Neil responded.

The actor added: "I think she was a bit nervous when she first arrived. She's playing a character called Holly Willoughby, I wouldn't like to say that it's herself."

Previously discussing her cameo, which was filmed back in 2021, Holly revealed that it didn't go entirely to plan.

"It wasn't take one, put it that way," she admitted on This Morning. "Or take two or take ten. I was about take 25 when I finally got the words out, but it's fine."

Talking about the specifics of her appearance, Holly added: "[It was] one line. I had a few scenes, but one line and I couldn't get it out but I had a really good day."

Midsomer Murders airs on ITV on Sunday nights at 9pm.
