Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has narrowed down the list of suspects in the George Kiss murder mystery.

Show bosses have officially confirmed that either John Paul McQueen, Theresa McQueen or Sally St Claire were responsible for killing the evil policeman last month.

Fans don't have long to wait to find out who was responsible, as the big reveal airs in Wednesday night's E4 first look episode (May 19).

In the meantime, Digital Spy is running down the final three – with exclusive insight from James Sutton, Jorgie Porter and Annie Wallace, who play John Paul, Theresa and Sally.

You can watch our video chat with all three Hollyoaks stars at the top of the page, or read on for the key info you need.

1. John Paul McQueen

Motive: Was bullied and humiliated by George for months throughout their relationship. On the day of the murder, George brutally attacked John Paul again.

Previous victims: None

James Sutton says: "We exist in a world on Hollyoaks where people do some pretty outrageous stuff and people do things that are out of character. There's only so far that you can push someone.

"There was a whole year of abuse – George faked his own death, he beat John Paul to a pulp a few times, he turned him away from his family and his friends.

"John Paul has also got a history. He can handle himself. He's a bit handy with the fists!

"He was also the last person to see George officially, when they had a big fight. There's a lot of reasons why it could and probably should be John Paul, but who knows?"

2. Sally St Claire

Motive: Sally had a history of animosity with George, who threatened her when she became suspicious over his abusive behaviour. On the day of the murder, Sally was horrified to discover that George had been beating up John Paul for months.

Previous victims: None

Annie Wallace says: "I suppose for Sally it goes back to the original threats that were being made to her by George, when she was trying to intervene in the relationship.

"Sally's got a lot of guilt with this, as she's the one who pushed George and John Paul together. It's unravelled because she realised that he was manipulative and violent.

"Then George threatened Sally and from that point onwards, the scales completely fell from her eyes. She was really worried for John Paul and it just escalated.

"The last thing she's seen was John Paul beaten up and bruised. It's an instinct to defend her child, and she feels very guilty for not having been more proactive in trying to step into the relationship more than she did.

"Maybe she's just lost it at the last minute for some reason, or lashed out because he's threatened her."

3. Theresa McQueen

Motive: Although Theresa was originally a fan of George and sided with him over Sally, she was later horrified when the policeman's evil abuse of John Paul was exposed to all.

Previous victims: Calvin Valentine

Jorgie Porter says: "Obviously she's a past killer. She's been to prison, she's handled it well, I think she did quite well in there. She missed everybody so she wouldn't really want to go back.

"Theresa has a heart of gold and she defends her family no matter what. She is like: 'We will do what it takes, even murder. We will take a man down if he is abusing one of the family'.

"She literally will go to any lengths just to prove that family is her life and the world.

"Theresa also doesn't really think sometimes. She just goes with her heart. So if it's in that instant with that adrenaline rush, she will go to all lengths to prove that she loves and defends her family."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
