Hollyoaks has cast CBBC star Nathaniel Dass as the newest member of the Maalik family.

Dass will arrive on-screen from Thursday, April 20, as Dillon Ray, Misbah Maalik's 15-year-old nephew. Dillon will be welcomed by Aunt Misbah when he's kicked out of his family home.

Dillon has a trendy fashion sense that impresses fellow teens Leah (Ela-May Demircan), Shing Lin (Izzie Yip) and Lucas (Oscar Curtis), but he's much more sensitive than he lets on.

"I'm so happy to have been welcomed into the Hollyoaks family. Everyone here is amazing and I've had the best time so far, especially with my new family, the Maaliks," Dass said in a statement.

"I'm super excited for people to see what's in store for my character Dillon. He's got a lot about him so it's going to be fun seeing what kind of trouble he gets into, who he'll become friends with and if there's maybe a few potential romances, you'll have to see."

Producer Lucy Allan recently hinted to Digital Spy that Dillon's arrival will reshape the Maalik family, following exits from Sami and Shaq over the last year.

"In the Maalik household, we have got a nephew arriving called Dillon, who will be another one of our teens," she said. "In terms of interest, we will be looking at that teen group and exploring sexuality, love and everything else through them, which will be really interesting in the coming year."

Prior to landing this role as Dillon, young actor Dass had a recurring role as Nate in the hit CBBC musical comedy series Almost Never.

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
