Hollyoaks' McQueen family have been experiencing an incredibly terrifying run-up to Halloween as they try to work out who is blackmailing them via the medium of an extremely creepy doll, which appears to know all their darkest secrets and is taunting them about their 'Seven Deadly Sins'.

Several members of the McQueen clan – Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe), Sylver (David Tag), Goldie (Chelsee Healey), Theresa (Jorgie Porter), John Paul (James Sutton), Nana (Diane Langton) and Cher Winters (Bethannie Hare) – have been targeted in a big 25th anniversary storyline for the soap.

The family have been spending a lot of time in The Dog pub, with the doll propped on the bar, trying to unravel the mysteries. But fans have noticed that the McQueens have made a bit of an error in the most recent stage of the storyline.

Earlier this week we saw Sylver speak openly to his family in the pub about killing his mum Breda, only for him to be arrested by PC George Kiss (Callum Kerr) after the blackmailer recorded his admission through the doll and sent it to the police.

Thankfully Sylver was let go without being charged but the McQueens are still openly talking about their secrets in front of the doll – despite the fact that they now know it has the ability to record them.

In the soap's most recent first-look episode Sylver's recently-discovered daughter Cher confessed to her dad that she'd killed her younger sister Liza when she was a child, having pushed her into a pool due to her jealousy of Liza which resulted in the girl drowning.

There's no evidence yet that the doll might have recorded Cher's admission but of course, considering what happened to Sylver, it's a definite possibility.

Viewers have been questioning why the McQueens are being so silly as to keep talking in front of the doll now that they know it could record them:

With several sins still to be uncovered, those McQueens might want to rethink where they have their private conversations...
