Hollyoaks hints at possible affair as Romeo flirts with Mercedes

Hollyoaks has confirmed the identity of Romeo Nightingale's new love interest, as he was seen flirting with none other than Mercedes McQueen at The Dog in tonight's episode.
The soap has been teasing Romeo's affections for someone new in recent weeks, after his relationship with Cher Winters recently ran into some tensions.
Viewers already knew that Romeo (Owen Warner) had his eye on an older woman too, with Grace Black recently making a move on him after misreading his signals, and tonight's (February 23) first-look episode confirmed that Mercedes is the one who has caught Romeo's eye.

Romeo was seen smiling over Mercedes' social media pages earlier this week, and in tonight's scenes, he seemed very interested in the fact that Cher (Bethannie Hare) had been talking to Mercedes about him too.
But the youngster made his feelings more overtly known afterwards when he ran into Mercy at The Dog and began flirting with her.
After Mercedes overheard him leaving a message for Grace after the kiss misunderstanding, Mercedes warned Romeo against "doing the dirty on Sylver's little girl".
"You never know, I might have a thing for older women," Romeo then told her, sparking Mercedes' interest.
"You want to be careful talking like that," Mercedes replied. "It could get a boy in trouble."

Speaking about his new love interest earlier this month, actor Owen Warner teased that the mystery woman's identity would be a surprise to viewers.
"I do think the audience will be surprised. It's something you won't see coming," he said.
"And it might not work, as he's still split between this new woman and Cher – however, whether the mystery woman will want Romeo or not is a different story."

Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
