Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Juliet Nightingale's mystery text messages have been coming from her estranged mum Donna-Marie Quinn in Hollyoaks.

There is no telling yet whether Lucy-Jo Hudson will be reprising her role as Donna-Marie on-screen, having last been seen in January 2020 when she tried to convince Juliet to leave Hollyoaks with her.

Juliet's troubled relationship with her mum is now being revisited after the teen started receiving mysterious text messages over the last few episodes.

The messages drove a wedge between her and girlfriend Peri Lomax when Juliet refused to come clean over who she'd been secretly texting.

Juliet tried to prove herself to Peri in Thursday's (May 13) instalment by asking to "take things to the next level" by moving in together.

"Closer proximity. Less lies. No lies," she corrected herself.

Juliet explained that she'd been pulling away to avoid being rejected, since she'd always had the experience of her mum rejecting her in favour of doing drugs.

"Can you promise that from now on that we'll be completely honest with each other?" Peri asked, with Juliet sweetly crossing her heart.

With this agreement, the two were ready to take this massive step. Later though, Juliet confided in Sid that she was in "a right mess" with the mysterious texts.

"It's my mum. She's got a new number and she's been messaging me constantly," Juliet revealed.

While Sid encouraged Juliet to tell Peri the truth about the texts, Jules worried that she would bring trouble to Peri's door if Donna-Marie turned up.
