Toby Faroe has threatened to kill mum Martine Deveraux in frightening Hollyoaks scenes.

In Wednesday's (January 20) first-look episode, Toby (Bobby Gordon) was supposed to be having his first counselling session as part of the process to donate his kidney to Walter.

In a huge misunderstanding, the counsellor pulled a copy of 'The Red Door' from behind a cushion in Toby's flat, leading him to explode in anger because he thought she'd brought the book with her.

At the same time, Martine (Kéllé Bryan) and Celeste (Andrea Ali) had to rush Walter (Trevor A Toussaint) to the hospital when he suffered a dangerous dip in potassium.

It was at the hospital where Martine heard from Misbah (Harvey Virdi) that Toby couldn't refuse the counselling sessions again, or they'd have to look for another donor.

A furious Martine confronted Toby at the garage for lying about the counselling session going well, when he'd actually sabotaged it.

"[Walter] is at the bottom of the transplant list because of his age, and you could have saved his life," she raged.

Toby insisted that Martine was actually to blame for all of the family's problems, since she'd interfered in his relationship with Cleo by telling her that he's a virgin.

He then locked his mum in the garage as he contemplated his next move. With Martine demanding to be let free, Toby walked outside to find Celeste approaching.

When Celeste demanded to know what her brother was up to, Toby threatened: "Mom's brought this on herself, and now I'm going to kill her."

Can Celeste talk her brother down from committing another murder?
