Hollyoaks has unveiled a brand new policeman character for the soap.
Newcomer Callum Kerr has signed to play PC George Kiss as the Channel 4 series begins its explosive year-long County Lines drug storyline, involving the teenagers of Hollyoaks High.
PC Kiss will be called into the school to investigate when pregnant teacher Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox) is stabbed while getting involved in an altercation between students.
Violence breaks out as Sid Sumner's (Billy Price) cousin Jordan Price (Connor Calland) and his friends try to infiltrate Hollyoaks High with their criminal operations.
"I feel very honoured to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks during such a thrilling time for the show," Callum Kerr said today (January 17). "My first couple of months have been brilliant and the cast and crew are very friendly and welcoming.
"My grandfather was a policeman like my character, so he'll be delighted to see me in the uniform. I'll be part of the team investigating the County Lines storyline, which will hopefully help raise awareness of a relevant topic and shed light on a serious issue."
Jessica Fox previously hinted that Nancy's horrific stabbing would kick off the County Lines storyline, when she said last month: "Quite early on in the year, we're going to kick off the storyline when Nancy is put in a situation that gives her a real shock.
"But she's never looking at home, she's always looking elsewhere. She doesn't believe that her children could possibly be involved in anything like this."
Hollyoaks will air PC Kiss's first scenes in a first-look episode on E4 on Wednesday, January 29 at 7pm, followed be a replay on Channel 4 the following night (Thursday, January 30) at 6.30pm.
