NEW BEDFORD — In February, it was confirmed that multiple places in the city were being considered as filming locations for the upcoming Hollywood movie "Finestkind." And now, the film's stars have been announced.

"Hell and High Water's" Ben Foster and "The Society's" Toby Wallace will play the roles of Kyle and Charlie, respectively, according to IMDbPro.com.

Foster, born in Boston, is best known for his roles in "3:10 to Yuma," "The Messenger" and "Leave No Trace." He is also recognized as playing Russell Corwin in the HBO series "Six Feet Under."

In 1995, he got his big break leading the coming-of-age series "Flash Forward," on the Disney Channel.

Wallace, an Australian actor, is known for his award-winning performance in the film "Babyteeth." He starred in the kids' films "Return to Nim's Island" and "Boys in the Trees."

Is there a Hollywood film in the works for New Bedford? Here's what we know.

According to the Movie Insider, the film is about two half-brothers reunited as adults after being raised by different fathers. When one discovers his estranged father has only months to live, he strikes a dangerous deal with a crime syndicate, putting him and his brother on a collision course with the Boston underworld.

The film is written by New Bedford native and UMass grad Brian Helgeland. He is best known for co-scripting the crime drama "L.A. Confidential," winning an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Filming spots considered in the city

According to Amy DesRosiers, New Bedford's Marketing Manager and Interim Director of Tourism, Helgeland was adamant about the movie being filmed in New Bedford as it is based on a true story from his childhood.

DesRosiers said some of the locations they've considered are Leonard's Pier, a few private residences, the New Bedford and Fairhaven Bridge, the hurricane barrier and Custom House Square.

Filming is expected to start in May or June.

The film has been a long time in the making; announced in 2018, it was set to originally star Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort and Zendaya.

Tommy Lee Jones ("The Fugitive") was rumored to be part of the cast, too.

Imperative Entertainment did not respond to requests for comment, nor did Creative Artists Agency, which represents Helgeland.
