Hollywood’s Art Lovers Have a Ball at the Frieze Art Fair’s Los Angeles Debut

After nearly a month of unseasonable rain, the clouds parted just in time for the Frieze art fair’s Los Angeles debut Thursday at Paramount Studios. Seventy galleries—from global behemoth Gagosian to hometown hero Kayne Griffin Corcoran—were on display inside a soundstage, while the fair’s special projects reimagined the storied streets of the studio’s back lot. Celebrity art lovers Brad Pitt, Jane Fonda, Sylvester Stallone, Maria Sharapova, Robert Pattinson, and more browsed the booths until closing time. Following the intimate preview, hotelier André Balazs opened the doors to his Chateau Marmont, co-hosting with White Cube’s Jay Jopling, as crowds of artists, sales directors, Leonardo DiCaprio, and a marching band wound and pushed through the faux-Gothic hallways to boogie by the iconic circular pool.
