Ted Scouten reports after the shooting, the person responsible reportedly barricaded themselves in an apartment.
FRANCES WANG: Now, to a developing story we're following out of Hollywood. That's where police say a person was shot and taken to the hospital following a domestic incident. CBS4's Ted Scouten is live near the scene in Hollywood with the latest. Ted?
TED SCOUTEN: Hi, Frances. So this was initially being handled as possibly a barricaded person inside of an apartment. You can see back here that is where the crime scene is.
Kind of winding down right now. Police have been here throughout the day. You can still see a few crime scene detectives out here on the scene. It was just before 6:00 this morning when shots rang out. And, shortly after that, police surrounded the place.
- This is the Hollywood Police Department.
TED SCOUTEN: Hollywood Police ordering anyone inside an apartment at Flagler and 57th to come out carrying nothing, with their hands in the air. We did not see anyone exit. And, shortly afterwards, police put away their guns. This all began just before 6:00 in the morning with reports of shots fired.
VANESSA ALONSO: There was a shooting. There was a shooting in the building. I was sleeping.
TED SCOUTEN: Vanessa Alonso lives next door. She was awakened by gunfire.
VANESSA ALONSO: It was like boom, boom, boom. Something like that.
TED SCOUTEN: Investigators tell us this appears to be a domestic situation. One person was shot and taken to the hospital. Police report the injury is non-life-threatening. Neighbors say this happened after hearing people yelling last night.
VANESSA ALONSO: They had been arguing since last night. Last night, 11:00-- I mean, like around 12:00. They've been arguing, arguing, arguing, arguing, and arguing.
TED SCOUTEN: Several hours after the shooting, crime scene detectives remained on scene, placing evidence cones and looking for clues.
Now, since this is an ongoing situation here, investigators from the Hollywood Police Department say that they are not able to tell us what happened to that shooter. So we don't know the resolution to that. However, they do tell us that there is no threat to the community.
