Holman expanding, buys North Carolina-based dealership firm

MOUNT LAUREL – Known locally for their family of car dealerships, an automotive services firm with a global reach is expanding its presence in the United States.

Holman has announced plans to acquire Leith Automotive Group, a Raleigh-based firm that describes itself as North Carolina’s largest source of new and used vehicles.

The purchase, for an undisclosed amount, is expected to take place by the end of March.

“As part of the agreement, the Leith name, the entire Leith team and the Leith brand all remain in place,” the family-owned firms said in a joint statement.

Leith, founded 56 years ago, sells new vehicles from 25 manufacturers. The company has more than 30 dealerships.

Holman started 100 years ago with a Ford dealership in Merchantville.

The Mount Laurel-based company has 40 dealership franchises representing 20 brands, according to its website.

In South Jersey, Holman has: BMW and Cadillac dealerships in Mount Laurel; Ford and Lincoln dealerships in Maple Shade and Turnersville; an Infinity dealership in Maple Shade; Toyota and Mini dealerships in Mount Laurel; and a Mercedes-Benz Van dealership in Maple Shade.

In addition to retail auto sales, Holman's services include fleet leasing and management, vehicle fabrication and conversion, and powertrain distribution.

It also markets personal insurance and risk management.

It employs more than 6,500 employees across North America, the United Kingdom and Germany.

The Mount Laurel firm changed its name from Holman Enterprises in March 2022, when it unified multiple business activities under a global brand.
