Holmes Arts Center gets grant to support 'Art Under the Stars'

Holmes Center for the Arts has been approved for a $10,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support HCA's first summer "Art Under the Stars" Series.

The project will bring two outdoor summer performances to Berlin Park in Holmes County - "Dancing Under the Stars" on June 17 and 18 and "Theatre Under the Stars" on July 8 and 9.

Holmes Center for the Arts' project is among 1,248 projects across America totaling nearly $29 million that were selected to receive this first round of fiscal year 2022 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects category.

Choreographing children's stories

Artists will choreograph three short story pieces that tell children's stories through dance for the evenings of "Dancing Under the Stars." Auditions for performers for "Dancing Under the Stars" will be held at the Holmes Center for the Arts on March 12.

HCA will perform the play "Clue" for the evenings of "Theatre Under the Stars." Auditions are to be announced. HCA will partner with merchants and shops to provide fun-filled, "mysterious" activities in the weeks leading up to the shows.
