MILLERSBURG - The Holmes County Commissioners on Monday approved the purchase of a parcel of land on County Road 19 to develop and improve a bridge in need of repair.

The county agreed to buy a little more than an acre from Bunny John LLC for $15,000.

"This is for a bridge replacement project on County Road 19," said Deputy Engineer Josh Galbraith. "There is some bad alignment and a nasty curve along the bridge. We will be realigning it and replacing the bridge."

Galbraith added the bridge, which is located just north of the County Road 19 turnoff from County Road 59, is not in very good condition, either.

He said the project will be bid as soon as the county receives the right of way with the completion of the deal. He expects the project to get underway in the spring.

Commissioner Rob Ault said from the information he's seen from the engineer, it looks like the plan is to take the bend out of that stretch of road.
