ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (AP) _ The New Home Co. (NWHM) on Friday reported a loss of $8.5 million in its first quarter.

The Aliso Viejo, California-based company said it had a loss of 42 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 5 cents per share.

The homebuilder posted revenue of $132 million in the period.

The company's shares closed at $2.19. A year ago, they were trading at $4.57.
