Major Home and Away spoilers follow for UK and Australian viewers.

It's the Home and Away mystery that has got everybody talking – which Summer Bay character is about to be killed off?

Show bosses sparked a grisly guessing game at the start of this week by announcing that a body would soon be found in the Bay.

The shock storyline, which begins on screen in Australia next week, has been tipped to cause major repercussions in the weeks ahead.

Here's a quick guide to everything we know about the story so far.

When and where is the body found?

Upcoming scenes in Summer Bay see two fishermen who are out in the water spot the mystery body in the sea. They shout to shore to raise the alarm about the tragic discovery.

These scenes are expected to air in Monday night's episode in Australia (June 14), so fans Down Under don't have long to wait to see the story begin.

Unfortunately, Home and Away's UK broadcasts are falling further behind the Australian airings at the moment. Channel 7 has aired a number of six-episode weeks recently, while Channel 5 only ever shows five episodes per week.

This means that UK fans will have to wait until Monday, July 23 to see the storyline kick off on Channel 5.

Who dies?

The big question. When the storyline was first announced in Aussie mag TV Week, a shortlist of four characters was given: Leah Patterson-Baker, Justin Morgan, Mackenzie Booth and Susie McAllister.

Home and Away's official trailer for the storyline later appeared to rule out Justin, as new footage showed Ryder telling Dean that a woman's body had been found.

The sneak peek footage also seemingly showed that Leah isn't the victim either, as she's visible on the shore when the fishermen raise the alarm about the upsetting discovery.

Mac has been heavily pushed as a possibility, as she has been on a downward spiral on Australian screens for several weeks now.

This week's episodes on Channel 7 saw Mac humiliate herself by gatecrashing Nikau Parata's modelling party, getting drunk and arguing with the guests.

Mac later regretted her behaviour when a video of her antics went viral and she was horrified by the footage of how she'd behaved. She confided in Dean that she didn't see a way forward for herself after losing everything and alienating everyone close to her.

The next morning, Mac had disappeared and left all of her belongings behind – including her mobile phone – leaving Dean worried that something wasn't right.

However, Mac has already been named in short teaser spoilers for the aftermath of the body discovery, which seems to rule her out too.

Superfans will also be aware that Emily Weir, who plays Mac, was spotted filming on location for Home and Away last month.

Paparazzi photographers caught Emily shooting scenes with new cast member Harley Bonner, who's yet to make his first appearance as Dr Logan Bennett.

Unless Emily is playing Mac's twin (and that's not as unlikely as it sounds in Summer Bay), it seems that the smart money could be on Susie.

Susie hasn't been seen in the Bay since she cruelly conned Leah, Justin and John earlier this year.

The schemer left plenty of enemies behind in the area, so it'd certainly be a juicy storyline if her body is now found in suspicious circumstances.

Could Leah, John or Justin be responsible? Might former foe Irene have taken revenge after Susie attacked her? Or has shifty newcomer Stephen decided to take action after his own traumatic history with Susie? The possibilities would be endless.

Home and Away's mystery death is expected to spark some gripping episodes, as an official investigation begins.

Show producer Lucy Addario recently told TV Week that fans are in for a "wild ride" as all of the consequences play out.

In Tuesday night's Australian episode (June 15) – which airs in the UK on July 26 – the Summer Bay locals are still waiting to hear the identity of the person who has lost their life. Dean and Ryder are both terrified that it could be Mac.

Beyond that, suspicion becomes rife as speculation grows over exactly what has happened and who might be responsible.

Home and Away fans will also see a new cop introduced to the Bay to take charge of the investigation.

Nicholas Cartwright has been cast as senior constable Cash Newman, who'll be shaking up life in the Bay as part of this storyline. The show's new cast member previously served in the Australian army for six years.

Nicholas recently told Perth Now: I think it really helps having a military background and understanding of rank and things like that to go into a position like this.

"You can kind of feel a little lost when you get out of the defence force, and no-one wants to do a normal job. So I thought, 'What's the craziest thing I can do?' and decided to go to the [National Institute of Dramatic Art]."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia). Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
