Home and Away's Olivia Deeble opens up over rejection in acting career

From Digital Spy

Former Home and Away star Olivia Deeble has discussed the rejection that she's faced over her acting career.

Olivia played Raffy Morrison for three years before leaving in 2019 – but speaking ahead of her IGTV documentary series which looks at how she became an actor, she revealed that the vast majority of her auditions have ended in rejection.

"Rejection can be heartbreaking," she told Daily Mail Australia. "It's probably the hardest part of being an actor.

"I have gone for a lot of auditions in my career. I'd say 60-ish. And that's not counting short films or commercials. I have only landed three of those. Admittedly, Little Lunch, Home and Away, and [Disney+ movie] Secret Society of Second-Born Royals were a great three to get!"

Olivia added that she still has plans to move to Los Angeles.

"I got the Disney movie last year via self-tape without setting foot in the US, so it happens!" she said. "Moving to LA is certainly on the cards.

"As to when? It all depends on when [travel] restrictions are lifted."

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals, also starring Andi Mack's Peyton Elizabeth Lee and Daredevil's Elodie Yung, will be released on September 25. Olivia plays Princess Roxana in the Disney+ film.

Olivia's Home and Away character Raffy left Summer Bay to take part in a medical trial in Victoria.

Home and Away airs on weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
