Former Home and Away star Sarah Roberts has opened up about her endometriosis diagnosis.

The actress, who played Willow Harris on the Australian soap between 2017 and 2021, shared a photo of herself in hospital getting keyhole surgery to diagnose the condition, which causes cells similar to the lining of the uterus to form elsewhere and then break down and bleed.

In her lengthy post, Roberts talked about how she was feeling following the confirmation, addressing herself in the context of adding another chapter to her life story.

"You owe it to yourself to find answers," she wrote, "even if it takes 5 years and 4 months of unanswered questions from medical professionals, a lack of fertility, the testing of relationships, grief and an attempt at a sparkling smile to hide the cocktail of confusing emotions throughout it all...

"Maybe, just maybe, if you spin it… this is a story of hope and redemption.

"Of strength and perseverance. Of falling apart and having the courage to pick up the broken pieces and put yourself back together again, with a little (sorry, A LOT!) of help from your friends and family. Thank you. In particular, you Mum.

"Let your fingers flicker across the keyboard with the moment you woke up in hospital after your laparoscopy and laughed SO HARD when the obstetrician finally told you that you had Stage 2 Endometriosis on your uterus, bowels and both ovaries that your scars nearly burst open with relief on the unwritten pages of your future. You weren’t 'crazy'."
